We designed a soft, ultra-light weight fabric that can be soaked in water for cooling headwear. We have chosen to not use animal leather, instead designing a synthetic fabric with a cotton base. The visual appearance of suede has fooled many. For instant heat relief, just soak your hat with water. This will provide cooling comfort that lasts 1-3 hours or until the hat dries. Once wet, a breeze which blows through the small fibers of the damp fabric will bring on a further cooling effect. Don’t fret, wetting this hat won’t cause water marks, mould, or that dreaded sour smell.

Evaporative cooling hats work by using the natural process of water evaporation to draw heat away from your head, essentially enhancing your body's own cooling mechanism (sweat).

Here's a breakdown of the mechanism:

• Activation: The hat is typically activated by soaking it in water for a few minutes. Special hydrophilic fibers within the hat's core absorb and hold the water.
• Three-Layer Design (Common): Many evaporative cooling hats use a layered fabric construction, which usually includes:An Inner Layer: A water-resistant, thermally conductive lining sits against the skin, designed to keep the wearer dry while efficiently transferring heat away from the body.A Middle Core: This is the super-absorbent layer (often made of polymer materials or a blend of hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibers) that traps and holds the optimal amount of water.An Outer Shell: This layer is breathable and quick-drying, allowing the trapped moisture to escape into the air.
• Cooling Process:Heat Transfer: Heat from the wearer's head transfers into the water-activated core material.Evaporation: As this water changes from a liquid to a vapor (evaporates) through the outer shell, it absorbs a significant amount of heat energy—known as the heat of vaporization—from the hat and the area around the head.Temperature Drop: This removal of heat energy lowers the temperature of the hat's fabric, creating a cooling sensation for the wearer.

The cooling effect is most effective in hot, dry climates where the air has low humidity and can readily absorb water vapor. The hat may provide cooling relief for several hours before needing to be reactivated with more water.
